  <description>To increase your accuracy, you will want to create a bullet seating gauge. This is something you can use to determine the point at which you want to seat your bullets. It's a tool best made from using expired brass (case) from the specific rifle you intend to load ammunition for. Here's how to make one.</description>
  <post>Congratulations, you should now have a bullet seating gauge. A quick reminder - if you change manufacturers, projectiles, or anything of the sort, you will need to re-set up your seating with the new projectile - otherwise, you will be off. I'd suggest regular testing with your gauge whenever you order a package of new projectiles.</post>

    <step>Drill a small hole through the primer pocket (e.g. a 3/16” hole). This will be used later to push the bullet back up the next of the casing to repeat the measurement.</step>
    <step>Use one of the bullets you wish to load, pressing it somewhat into the fired case. Do NOT crimp, or fully seat the bullet. You want this to be proud of where it will end up, but you want it far enough in that the bullet will not bind.</step>
    <step>Add a thin layer of oil to the bullet and case (the shoulder side, you don’t need the case head) to prevent the bullet from binding in the lands.</step>

    <usage>
    <step>Chamber the round slowly. The bullet should engage the lands as it is being chambered and end up being pressed deeper into the casing.</step>
    <step>Quickly rotate the bold and remove the round (doing this quickly also prevents binding).</step>
    <step>Using a micrometer, measure the overall length (O.A.L.) of the result, and record this number.</step>
    <step>Using a small rod, press the bullet up the neck from the head (remember the pocket in the first step of creation) slightly to reset the bullet.</step>
    <step>Repeat steps 2 through 4 multiple times to ensure you have accurate readings.</step>
    <step>Subtract 0.015” from the measured values recorded in step 3 to obtain the overall length of where your bullets need to be.</step>
    <step>you can now set the bullet seating depth on your reloader to match this number, and you are fairly close to where you wish to be. If you need to make adjustments, do so, but take care not to exceed the full number you measured in step 3.</step>
